| The color had to work with the cherry cabinets in the kitchen The first step involved painting a deep chestnut brown eggshell oil paint on the walls and allowing it to dry. |

| Next, I troweled on a skim coat of joint compound covering some - but not all of the chestnut brown color. At this stage I also carved 'stones' out of the fresh compound to appear as though they were a part of the wall's foundation. These stones were done in specific places where wear and tear might have naturallyoccurred through time.. | |||||||
| The next step was to slowly paint on the six other layers of color onto the plaster - completely covering the chestnut brown base color.
At this stage I painted to 'faux stones' and the grout lines to look true to life. I added shadows beneath each stone to give a three dimensional feel.. |
